I think ...Excellent post and a fascinating study. <br /><br />I think the point about giving ourselves an 'escape route to sidestep our guilt' is an interesting one. It seems to imply that on some level we really want to engage in selfish/damaging behaviours and we are constantly seeking an excuse, this would indeed be a desperate situation. <br /><br />he other side of the coin is that as humans we are capable of the most damaging as well as the most altruistic behaviours. The one which flourishes could be more related to our day-to-day influences, interactions and the habits we form.
